Christmas Fair

On Saturday the 17th of December from 10am until 9pm there is a Christmas Fair being held at The Rayrigg Rooms in Bowness-on-Windermere with a wide variety of stalls run by local traders and businesses, from vintage clothes to linen and lace, stocking fillers to shoes! And of course Fireside Bookshop will be there with a great selection of books and ephemera, there will be mulled wine available all day and a tea shop selling delicious cakes as well as live music all day and a Santa's Grotto between 5pm-7pm so if you're in the area come along for a great day of shopping, supping and supporting independent traders!

Book Club

I often find it hard to chose what to read next, working in a bookshop helps in as much as there's plenty to go at but at the same time it can be overwhelming and I often end up with a stack of books I desperately want to read but just can't pick one! So I'm thinking about starting an online bookclub for inspiration. We pick a book each month and anyone who wants to read it can leave feedback on here. Any suggestions for the first book to read?

Kendal PBFA Book Fair

We're going to be at the PBFA Book Fair in Kendal this year. Its Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th of June at The Brewery Arts Centre on Highgate. Opening hours are 12-6 and admission is £1.00.

New Stock

The Easter Weekend is nearly upon us and the shop is full to bursting with something to suit everyone from holiday reading to collectors items. On sunny days we're holding a sale outside with a variety of books priced £2.00 each or  4 for £6.00 so if the sun's out swing by for a look!

This morning the latest delivery of  Leeds Postcards arrived, satirical, cynical and hilarious is equal doses! My personal favourite is the David Cameron dot to dot which you can see on the blog. They could do with adding a few more members of parliament to it if you ask me!
